“As a scientist,” Hancock asked, “have you ever seriously engaged such techniques to have first-hand experience of what they’re talking about, and perhaps even to challenge your own concept of what is real?”
Dawkins babbles for about 3 minutes, but says “I’d actually like to do it.”
You would think a scientist would point out the error of the whole “As a scientist” set-up. First hand experience is subjective experience. It’s nice, but from a scientific perspective, it’s rather insignificant and meaningless. Dawkins should have corrected him and just said, “As an atheist, I’d like to get high.”
Then again, what happened to the whole “Science is so wonderful that it gives my life all the meaning it needs” schtick?
