Caroline Weinberg, National Co-chair of the March for Science, has embraced Bill Nye as an honorary chair of the March. She claims that he will “personify our goals and principles” and that “we couldn’t be more honored” to have him “represent the march along side us.”
I find this very interesting given that just a few years ago, Bill Nye was using science to peddle a scam that promised to turn tap water into a reagent that would kill 99.9% of harmful bacteria.
So let the record show that the March for Science has conferred an honorary chair to a snake oil salesman and insists that he “personifies” them. How fitting.
This is just further evidence for not accepting the “March for Science” as some type of honest and sincere effort to support and promote science. Any group of people who seriously and honestly value science would NOT be propping up a snake oil salesman as someone who personifies them.
Just recently they were complaining that he was a poor choice because he is a straight white male. At least their insanity didn’t hit a full 10.

In other words, they have no problem overlooking his history of using science to sell snake oil, but it’s the color of his skin that upsets them.
