Trans Professor Doesn’t Want Anyone to Use the term “Pedophile”

Interesting…..

In an interview with the Prostasia Foundation, professor Dr. Allyn Walker argues for the use of the term “minor-attracted people” — or MAPs — to describe people attracted to children.

Walker explained that people can be attracted to children without acting on it.

“It’s less stigmatizing than other terms like pedophile,” Walker said. “A lot of people when they hear the term pedophile, they automatically assume that it means a sex offender. And that isn’t true. And it leads to a lot of misconceptions about attractions toward minors.”

Yes, nothing worse than misconceptions about attraction toward minors.

In the interview, Walker stressed that child sexual abuse is never okay. They explained there is a difference between attraction and behavior.

Walker said there is no “morality” attached to attraction because that’s something we can’t help. They said it’s the response to that attraction that’s either good or bad.

I’m not sure I agree (more on this later, perhaps). But if I go along, and weigh only the response, then yes, at that point the response is either to deny the attraction or to indulge it. People can make that choice. And it would be morally wrong to indulge one’s desire to have sex with children.

The Prostasia Foundation’s Executive Director Jeremy Malcolm agrees. The foundation works to prevent child abuse.

The problem is, it isn’t actually a choice. People are just born with this condition, according to what science says,” Malcolm said.

Hmmm. This argument sounds familiar.

For their part, Walker said: “I want to be clear: child sexual abuse is morally wrong and an inexcusable crime. As an assistant professor of sociology and criminal justice, the goal of my research is to prevent crime. My work is informed by my past experience and advocacy as a social worker counseling victims. I embarked on this research in hopes of gaining understanding of a group that, previously, has not been studied in order to identify ways to protect children.”

Nice to know the professor is opposed to “child sexual abuse.”

I want to state in the strongest terms possible that child sexual abuse is morally wrong and has no place in our society,” said ODU President Brian O. Hemphill, Ph.D. “This is a challenging time for our University, but I am confident that we will come together and move forward as a Monarch family.”

Nice to know the university is opposed to “child sexual abuse.”

Problem? Pedophiles are opposed to “child sexual abuse.”

Here is how the APA defines it: Sexual abuse is unwanted sexual activity, with perpetrators using force, making threats or taking advantage of victims not able to give consent

The professor and the university could be engaged in a head fake. Recall, for example, that atheist Richard Dawkins would be unlikely to consider “mild pedophilia” to be child sexual abuse. And given that pedophiles believe their sexual advances are not unwanted, and that children can indeed consent, they too would not see their sexual behavior as sexual abuse.

So the trans professor and the university need to clarify. Are they opposed to all forms of sexual contact between adults and children? Is all adult-child sex, by definition, sexual abuse? Do they believe that some children can consent to having sex with adults?

Pervert? Scum? Deviant? Where’s my thesaurus?

  2. Unfortunately for the current state of the left, if the “I was just born this way” argument works for the LGB community, is there a reason paedos can’t use it? “But the difference is children can’t consent” I hear them say. The minute paedophilia becomes even remotely socially acceptable, the notion of “consent” will be redefined out of any meaningful existence.

After that happens I’m not sure what if any sexual taboos will still be standing.

    I spotted this ChangeDotOrg petition:

On November 16, 2021, Professor Allyn Walker was placed on administrative leave from their position as Assistant Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Old Dominion University.

He (or using what seems to be his preferred personal pronoun, they) is getting significant public kickback, including from students at their own university.

  4. TFBW says:

Walker has now been ushered gently out the door at Old Dominion University and will remain on administrative leave for the rest of the contracted term of employment.

“People attracted to children” must be a euphemism: attraction to children is not limited to the small and peculiar minority Walker studies, it’s majority and mainstream. Famously, every woman coos over a baby, any baby, and many men, too; anyone keeping granny from grandchild does so at risk.

Which leaves me very uneasy and hesitant when Walker uses everyday words with a plain everyday meaning in a euphemistic way. Walker claims to have only the best of intentions and practices, but I observe he literally doesn’t mean what he actually says, he equivocates meanings.

I was right to be deeply uneasy. Here’s from an article by 4W:

On November 9, Walker, a biological female who identifies as non-binary, sat down for an interview with now-infamous group Prostasia – a registered 503c which many have called “pro-pedophile” for their stances on legalizing child-like sex dolls and “artistic” child pornography, as well as routinely comparing pedophilia to a sexuality

In the Prostasia interview, Walker states the term “minor attracted people” should be used out of consideration for pedophile’s feelings, noting “… I think it’s important to use terminology for groups that members of that group want others to use for them.” She goes on to state that “MAP advocacy groups like B4U-Act have advocated for use of the term, and they’ve advocated for it primarily because it’s less stigmatizing than other terms like pedophile.”

4W has previously covered the group B4U-Act, which was founded by convicted multi-child rapist Michael Melsheimer for the explicit purposes of normalizing pedophilia and distracting from prevention efforts. In Melsheimer’s own words, he wanted to ensure B4U-Act was never associated with the “prevention of offending.”

Melsheimer died in 2010, but is considered a respected member of the “boy love community” to this day.

Following 4W’s breaking coverage on Walker’s interview, the instructor’s work quickly came under international backlash. Copies of Walker’s PhD dissertation began to circulate, showing Walker had entertained theories regarding allowing pedophiles to access “high quality child pornography” in belief it may reduce offending.

Sharp intake of breath. Walker most certainly is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

No wonder Old Dominion University is letting Walker garden until end of contract, forgotten if not quite gone.

A lot of people when they hear the term pedophile, they turn to one or more dictionaries and find that the term refers to sexual attraction and sexual desires.

The medterms medical dictionary’s “Medical Definition of Pedophilia”, with its strong warnings, accords well with the educated-layman’s understanding that I already had:

Pedophilia: Adult sexual fondness for and activity with children. Pedophilia is a form of paraphilia (deviant sexual behavior). If acted out, pedophilia is legally defined as sexual child abuse. Pedophilia includes fondling a child’s genitals, intercourse, incest, rape, sodomy, exhibitionism, and commercial exploitation of children through prostitution or the production of pornographic materials. Pedophiles who have sexually abused children require intense psychological and pharmacological therapy prior to release into the community because of the high rate of repeat offenders. Treatment is rarely effective because the disorder is not yet well understood. The incidence of pedophilia has been markedly underestimated. It is essential that pedophilia be reported so that appropriate steps can be taken to protect the children involved and all other children.

As regards the production of pornographic materials, I note that “Walker had entertained theories regarding allowing pedophiles to access “high quality child pornography” in belief it may reduce offending.” — See previous response for source.

As with Walker’s (and his allies’) elision of ‘sexual’ from ‘sexual attraction’ to make it the more innocent-sounding ‘attraction’, so the addition of ‘high quality’ to ‘child pornography’ to make it sound more up-market and respectable. What exactly would the highly ambiguous, make-of-it-what-you-will, advertising-speak — it’s the stupid and gullible who fall for advertising-speak — term “high quality” refer to, anyway? More dots per inch to enable a really close zoom in on the pornographic details?

No, with such a strong warning in that Medical Definition of Pedophilia definition/description, I wouldn’t give an inch on the existing red line that child pornography of any and every “quality” is currently illegal and the law enforced, and that it should remain illegal.

I’m sure if we give alcoholics access to high quality alcohol, it will curb their drinking problem.

I don’t care how HD it is or how much money went into the soundtrack, child pornography is inherently the exploitative abuse of children. Walker is suggesting allowing that abuse to continue in order to provide “treatment” to the very sick individuals who watch it anyway.
